Einfach Dukaten diverse Jahrgänge
3.49 g · 986
The ducat is a gold coin that was once widely used as currency across Europe. It was first minted in Venice in 1284. Austria began issuing gold ducats in the 16th century, and they remained legal tender until 1858.
All coins issued after 1914, including this one, bear the year 1915 as their sole date of minting. At a fineness of 986 parts per thousand, the gold is known as ducat gold. This was an exceptionally high level of purity for a gold coin in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The obverse has depicted Emperor Franz Joseph I wearing a laurel wreath since 1852. The reverse features the crowned Habsburg double-headed eagle.
