Maple Leaf 1 oz diverse Jahrgänge
1 oz · 31.1 g · 999
The Gold Maple Leaf is one of the world’s best-selling gold bullion coins, second only in popularity to South Africa’s Krugerrand. Its popularity reflects its status as the world’s second-oldest bullion coin.
First struck by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1979, the coin is available in a range of weights. Issues minted from 1979 to 1982 have a gold fineness of 999 parts per thousand. Since 1982, the fineness has been 999.9 parts per thousand, setting the coin apart from bullion coins such as the Britannia and the Krugerrand.
The reverse features Canada’s national symbol, the maple leaf. The obverse of this issue shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, whose likeness was updated several times from 1979 onwards.
